Maldives Immigration has revealed that 904 tourists have visited the Maldives since the country re-opened its borders to tourists.

The Maldives closed its borders on March 27 as a precautionary measure against COVID-19. On July 15, the country re-opened its borders once again and received its first tourists in nearly four months.

Statistics published by Immigration said a total of 904 tourists have visited the country over the past 10 days. Most tourists are from the United Kingdom, accounting for 904 tourists. The second-most number of tourists visited from the United States with 106 tourists. Germany stands at number three with 73 tourists.

A study carried out by the Maldives National University, MNU estimated that 10,595 tourists will visit the Indian ocean archipelago in July. It further said 450,134 tourists will visit the Maldives during the remainder of the year.
