The look in your eyes is no surprise,
The fear I see is meant to be
For you have genuine cause for concern,
When you see the ashes of a friend in urn.

The terror you feel when a serpent you see,
No less than being ship-wrecked alone
Gripped by dread and plain confusion,
What shall I do, where shall I run?

Things you hope will turn for the better
Your time will come is well understood,
Till then your fears will still be around
And an answer to them has to be found.

Courage you need to name the fear
To confront that which frightens you,
When the tongue speaks not and the ears don't hear
When your hair are on end and you haven't a clue.

Befriend your fears like the friends you do
Whom you may not like but friends you make,
Face and not run is the remedy
To avoid maybe even greater calamity.

Terror strikes at the heart of man,
Accept the fear when it invades the mind,
Succumb and you will simply turn numb
Impossible then a solution to find.

Being powerless and embarrassed
Won't get you far with fears,
You'll only have left for them
The door ajar, to leave you in tears.

Make fears your friends you must
However difficult it may seem,
You might well find more often than not
They were all but a bad dream.
