To Sleep
To Sleep
To sleep
Perhaps, to dream
Of that which eludes me in the waking state,
Dulled as I am by Consciousness
And, the burdens of reality
By the mirror that reveals to me,
Me, as I really am and not
What I wish to be.
Dreams
Unlike the mirror do not constrain,
And wings lay out for me to gain
Heights,
For me to fly
Unhindered,
Unhampered
Freedom unchained,
To play with the stars and caress the moon
And, mountains climb, all too soon.
The oceans cross as I blink
Knowing I shan’t ever sink,
For the ravenous sea would
Only a stream be,
That I could wade through to my destiny,
Perhaps,
But, willy-nilly all dreams are
Destined to fade away,
114 Journey Without End
The Orb’s rays as the cock
Crows
Will always, but always,
hold sway,
Still, I sleep,
To dream.
