Days after India offered vaccines for foreign diplomatic corps and their families in New Delhi, the Pakistan government said they have taken note of the offer, reported The News.
Despite the reaction, there is no confirmation yet on whether Islamabad would accept New Delhi’s offer. Earlier, India has also donated millions of vaccines to its neighbors and allies in the region, but Pakistan didn’t figure in the list.
Despite giving approval to the Indian manufactured Astra-Zeneca vaccine, the Government of Pakistan had not made any formal request for it to the Indian government. The country expects the supplies of Astra-Zeneca through Covax, the WHO-led alliance, to provide COVID-19 vaccines to mid and lower-income countries.
However, China has recently offered to “gift” of half a million doses of Senopharm, a COVID-19 vaccine developed by a Chinese state-owned pharma company, to Pakistan.
