Me And My Little Flower

Cast no shadow upon me,

Cast no shadow upon me,
Said a little flower today,
Let me too feel the heat
Of the rising light and day,

For like you I too yearn for warmth
To rid myself of chill,
And like you again, of the once-loved winter
I have had enough, enough of my fill.

I need, said the flower to me again
To bask in the glory of the sun,
To reveal and show you how
Cheering I am, and my true colours too,
And, that indeed would be fun.

The shriveled me that you now see,
Will display a brilliant green,
I will have rosy cheeks for you to stroke
And joyous will be that scene.

The glint in your eyes that I now see
Will lift my spirits too,
As both of us, you and I
Play with the morning dew.

So, move away from me,
Let the rays caress me all over,
Like you then, I too will be
Literally, in clover.

Goodbye then said the flower to me,
Adieu, my friend, till we meet again,
Another morn
Another dawn,
Perhaps, for a chat in the rain.
