A senior journalist affiliated with Pakistan's Geo News has gone missing in Karachi, the media outlet confirmed on Saturday.
According to Geo News, Ali Imran Syed left his home on Friday evening and told the family that he would return in half an hour but did not.
His car was parked outside the house and his mobile phone is also at home, said his wife.
The family said the police authorities were informed about Syed's disappearance, who have registered a case against the disappearance.
Meanwhile, the Geo News administration said the Karachi police chief and DIG East have also been informed about his disappearance.
While taking notice of the matter, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed Inspector General of Sindh Police Mushtaq Mahar to ensure that journalist is immediately recovered.
"Such actions against journalists are intolerable," said Murad Ali Shah.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) condemned the disappearance and noted that the state was trying to restrict the freedom of the press by creating panic among the journalists.
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan also called for Syed's "immediate release".
