Sri Lanka aims to totally generate electricity by renewable energy by 2030

Duminda Dissanayake, Minister of State for Solar, Wind and Hydro Power Generation Project Development says that he will fulfill the responsibility vested with him to generate electricity by renewable energy sources instead of the use of fuel by 2030.

The State Minister expressed these views while joining an observation visit to a private solar power plant constructed in the Pathisrambewa area in Anuradhapura. The plant is expected to add a capacity of 2 Megawatts to the national grid in the future.

The plant is spread in a land area of 10 acres and the ground under the solar panels is used for the cultivation of nearly 30 varieties of agricultural crops using modern technology
