A 56-year-old teacher in Bhutan was sentenced to 30 years in prison by a district court for allegedly molesting ten of his students in a primary school. The teacher was a vice-principal of the school and the incident took place in 2019.
Dil Bahadur Chhetri Neopani, the accused teacher in the case, was arrested on November 8, 2019, in the Tsirang district of Bhutan when police and the district child protection unit received multiple complaints of molestation and sexual harassment.
The court, in its order, said he was found guilty of touching inappropriately to at least ten students. He was also ordered to pay a compensation of Nu 90,000 (roughly $ 1200) to each victim within a month. Failing to do would result in seizure of his property, reported Kuensel.
The report also claimed that the teacher also forcibly kissed girls students.
The teacher, however, denied the allegation and said he would appeal in the High Court.
