Canada is extending support to strengthen the capacities of the cooperative sector and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in Sri Lanka impacted by COVID-19, the High Commissioner of Canada to Sri Lanka David McKinnon said.

In a message to mark Canada Day 2020, High Commissioner of Canada noted that the bilateral friendship between Sri Lanka and Canada goes back many decades and is strengthened by the deep people-to-people ties.

“Over the past few months, this partnership has been further strengthened as we worked with ministries and civil society partners to provide assistance and relief to the most vulnerable communities, including women and children,” he said.

The High Commissioner also underlined that Canada continues to support the reconciliation process through the long-standing collaboration on national languages and by assisting with demining work.
