A report by the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) said a total of 630 children suffered casualty due to war and violence in Afghanistan during the first six months of 2020.
At least 225 children were killed and the other 405 were wounded due to war and violence in Afghanistan. The commission blamed the escalation in fighting in Afghanistan between the Taliban and the Afghan forces behind these figures, TOLOnews reported
Rajab, an eight-year-old child, is facing severe psychological issues. Reason: he lost his entire family - father, two brothers, a sister, and his pregnant mother- in a roadside bomb blast in Maidan Wardak. And the story of Rajab isn’t an exception when it comes to children in Afghanistan. There are countless examples of such tragedies in the country.
Afghanistan remains the deadliest country for civilians in the world, said the International Committee for Red Cross (ICRC) in its report last month. Women and children accounted for half of the total civilian casualties in Afghanistan.
Recently a report by the UNAMA (the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan) claimed that around 58 percent casualty caused by anti-government elements. The UNAMA report in October said the overall civilian casualties caused by the Taliban dropped by 30 percent, but this figure is delusional in the sense that casualty figures from targeted and illegal killings, magnetic IEDs increased in the same period. The Taliban didn’t claim responsibility for these types of attacks.
UNAMA also added, “the unclaimed attacks, especially through IEDs, increased and it corresponds to the subsequent decrease in numbers of incidents claimed by the Taliban and Daesh (ISIS).”
