Conceding that the economy was facing numerous challenges, the Bangladesh government on Wednesday exuded hope of addressing them saying it saw the obstacles as opportunities.
"Challenges are many. We won't say there is no challenge. But we always see the challenges as opportunities,” Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said.
Historically it is seen that a lot of opportunities came when challenges appear, the minister said at a media conference after a meeting of the cabinet committee on public purchase.
"The country started the fiscal year with a fall in revenue receipts, but it rose 17 percent in 11 months. Exports also increased by 14 percent. The forex reserve is also close to hitting USD 46 billion now," he said.
The minister said he hopes the country will perform well in the days to come, The Daily Star reported.
