Hundreds of people took to the streets in Kathmandu on Monday, and protested demanding the restoration of the monarchy, reported The Himalayan Times. For the past few weeks, several cities in the country have witnessed such protests in support of the monarchy.
The protests were organized by Rastriya Shakti Nepal, Valley Mobilisation Group. People of, all age groups, and professions joined the Monday protests in the valley. In last weeks dozens of similar, and even larger demonstrations were held in different cities in Nepal, the report claimed.
Protesters flagged the Nepali flag and displayed the picture of Prithivi Narayan Shah, the first king of Nepal, and the former king and queen, Gyanendra Shah and Komal Singh.
Members of the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party, a pro-monarchy political party, have also joined the protests.
Slogans like “King, come forward and save the nation,” “maintain unity in the country,” and “King and people are equal” were also raised there.
