The Ballad of the Sea
The voice I heard came from the seas
The voice I heard came from the seas
Midst the raging storms,
Storms are but a part of me
For myriad are my forms.
I'm mostly gentle in my pace
Like waves that lap the shore,
And happily show a friendly face
Peaceful to the core,
I'm home to all kinds of fish
Flora and fauna too,
Many a man have I seen wish,
But never a man rue
That he lived by the mighty sea
And unkind was my thrust,
For I always give you all of me
As indeed I always must,
I give you beautiful books to read
Like the Old Man and the Sea,
And were it not for sharks indeed
Hemingway might have missed me.
And when at night the stars I see
And fondly gaze at the moon,
Somewhere lies in memory
The thought, they’ll be gone and soon,
If I could but a picture paint
Of me and that heavenly sky,
The light so blue, the clouds so faint
To the 'day' I'd say goodbye,
But I know that somewhere in the East
The brightest star of all,
Will rise, and I will shimmer at an Orange feast
And hear the morning call,
I am the ballad of the sea,
And zephyr gladly sings with me,
Wind and water are elements two,
Without us, Man, what would you do,
