When Eyes are Moist and the Heart Bleeds
When eyes are moist and the heart bleeds
And, sorrow reigns supreme,
When Eyes are Moist and the Heart Bleeds
When eyes are moist and the heart bleeds
And, sorrow reigns supreme,
When hope is what the soul needs
And peaceful sleep is a dream.
When the ray of light through the winter’s haze
Doesn’t wake me up
And, I’d rather sleep than get warmed By my
lovely morning cup.
It’s then that I need you, O Lord
To set things right for me,
To strike within me the happiness chord From
bondage set me free.
For, nothing is so enslaving
As the spirit of misery,
Nothing, so demeaning As living in history.
The past is dead and gone forever
The sea its waters, churns,
The wave that caresses the shore once
Is not the same when it returns.
Give me the sight to shadows pierce
To know right from wrong,
Let the flow of life end in a hearse
Let divine be the song.
