Pakistani officials have reportedly objected to India’s presence in the proposed US plan where the foreign ministers of regional countries are to meet, reported The Express Tribune.

The report said the official said since India doesn’t share a border with Afghanistan, it should not be invited to any Afghan peace process. The country, however, is yet to make its stand on the proposal public.

Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on National Security Dr. Moeed Yousaf, when asked about it in a TV program, said, “We have repeatedly stated that peace cannot be achieved through a spoiler.”

He further said, “We have proof of what India has been doing against Pakistan using the Afghan soil,” he added. “India does not have any interest in peace in Afghanistan. If there is peace in Afghanistan the situation will change and India’s influence will diminish there [Afghanistan] naturally.”

Earlier also, on many occasions, Pakistan has always resisted the involvement of India in multilateral platforms seeking to discuss Afghanistan. India, on the other hand, remained one of the biggest development partners for Afghanistan in the region. It has invested more than $ 3 billion in reconstruction and development projects in the country.

Post 9/11, Pakistan has always looked at the Afghanistan government as pro-India. And, in fact, it became one of the key reasons for Pakistan to aid the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan.
