The Candle of Hope Must Never Die
Live in the present with no thoughts of the morrow
Live in the present with no thoughts of the morrow
Let the next day take care of itself,
Your time is your time, no need to beg nor borrow
No need to wallow, today, in tomorrow’s sorrow.
You won’t go far with the horse behind the cart
Or, you might be made to stand on your head,
It’s always best to start at the start, else you might be torn apart
Anything else is wasting time, nor good for the beating heart.
Learn to go as all boats do, always as the waters flow
Against the flow is an uphill task, drowning easier than you think,
Bury your sadness and your sorrows, never let another know
Let your anger and resentment, never their very ugly faces show.
In everything that you ever do, put your mind and soul in it
Empty shells just make noises, shrill and clanging all the time,
However, dark it feels within, remember that your heart is lit
The Candle of Hope must never die, not even bit by little bit.
