I Wonder
Is it wiser to remain the fool that you are
Is it wiser to remain the fool that you are
Than it is to display your apparent wisdom,
Better the hamlet and its simple precincts
Than the gates of an enchantress’ kingdom.
The Mirage that befools the Bedouin
Does, the City-Dweller too
Neither, ever able to see the Truth
The skies not always, clear blue.
Much deceives the human heart
The failing eyes too,
Invisible, the curtains that fall on stage
Through blinkers you cannot see, ‘cause
Blank, appears the written page.
Little to choose for Accuracy
‘Tween Memory and History,
Both rely on “mental movies”
Inaccurate, those made-up, stories.
Kings and Generals lay their swords
Meld with dust and grime,
Were they happier, then, in their trappings
Or now,
One with Time?
Wonder, Wonder, all you wish
That’s all that’s un-circumscribed,
Be god if you wish, but only your own, Ashok
The rights of others, never denied.
