Let’s treat the past with warmth and care,
For with every single passing day,
A step nearer the end we are,
And the past is the friend on the way.

To help us through the future walk,
And mistakes not repeat,
And like the mirror that tells you constantly,
When you look dead beat.

But live in the past we must not,
For the future then will be bleak,
Flounder we will and waywardly,
In the maze of the past, so to speak.

Visit and engage sometimes,
The past we should see as a friend,
And no more than the occasional
