Lost in the mist of Time

In the dark abyss of the night

In the dark abyss of the night
As I plunge into a darkness unknown,
I wonder why I deserted Childhood
I wonder why I have, thus, grown.

Left behind, in this silly world of Men
Where nothing matters anymore than greed and Mammon,
Those wonder years of both amazement and beauty
Those paper boats, that squirting water-cannon

That Innocence, worth a lifetime in itself
When Time whizzed by faster than light
And, sleep descended from the heavens
My quilt for the beauty of dreams at night.

The river of no-return now, I know
Awaits, as I wait to bid bid goodbye to the sandy shore,
Where the grains have mostly filled the hourglass
Not many left, yes, not many more

Into the seas unfathomed, the waters untested
I sail on a boat more fragile than me,
The Land, home to all mankind
The Mirage of a Splendid Eternity.

Lost in the mist of Time somewhere
No more than bits of memory,
“His” or Hers” matters but little, for
Cruel, may sometimes be the pages of history.
