In Search of the Soul
Endless, fruitless, journeys
That we oft embark upon,
Endless, fruitless, journeys
That we oft embark upon,
To the hills and the mountains
For the sake of a ‘peace’ that’s gone.
The mind a whirring, spinning, top
Topsy-turvy the world,
Whichever you look at it
Unhinged, unplugged, all twirled.
The ardent hope that solitude
And the gazing at the stars,
Will ease the pace of moving time
And give us longer hours.
To help us reach the soul inside
That we from ourselves, detach,
In the mad race we enter
To every dollar catch.
The soul is me, not me from it
It’s the package that goes by my name,
It’s the force within that guides us all
The conscience of life’s football game.
The body perishes, the soul lives on
Or so it’s said everywhere,
What lives for a while after we’re gone
Are memories of the times we share.
That, then is the soul for me
The warmth and feelings left behind,
No need to go looking for it’
Cause a noble soul’s just a noble mind.
