Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is likely to address the Sri Lankan parliament during his upcoming visit to Sri Lanka this month, Daily Mirror reported. Sri Lankan officials are currently in discussion with Pakistan regarding this.

Imran Khan is expected to visit Sri Lanka for a two-day visit on 22 February this month. He will be the first head of government to visit the country since the COVID-19 pandemic spread worldwide. If he addresses the Sri Lankan parliament, he would the fourth such leader in recent times to do so.

During his visit, Khan would meet President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahindra Rajapaksa and Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.

Earlier, in 2015, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had addressed the Sri Lankan parliament.

Khan’s visit is scheduled on the day of the UNHRC meet where a strong resolution against human rights violations in Sri Lanka is expected to be moved. Pakistan is reportedly seeking support from Muslim nations for Sri Lanka on the issue.
