Delegations from Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan have held discussions in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and sought to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of education, research, tourism, and investment, reported Daily Mirror.
Sri Lankan ambassador to Uzbekistan Lamawansa and Uzbekistan Deputy Foreign Minister Sidikov Furkhat led their respective delegations for talks.
During the discussion, they discussed the prospects for collaboration in the areas of vocational training, short-term courses, establishing links between Universities, and joint research projects.
Both sides emphasized the unutilized potential to enhance collaboration in various spheres, including trade, agriculture, technology, and investment. The matters pertaining to potential in expanding both inbound and outbound tourism of both countries as well as promotion of cultural and religious tourism was touched upon.
Both Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan underlined the importance of establishing links between the Chambers of Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan to open more opportunities for business sectors of both countries.
