At least eight employees of the Afghan government were killed on Tuesday in different attacks in two provinces, Arian news reported.
An unknown gunman opened fire in the morning, killing four employees of the Afghan Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development. The incident happened in PD 5 in Kabul, Police confirmed.
In a separate incident, a patrol vehicle of a public protection force was targeted in a roadside bombing, TOLOnews reported. Four members of the patrol unit were killed in the attack, the Herat governor confirmed.
No group has yet taken responsibility for the attacks.
Target assassinations in the capital Kabul and elsewhere in Afghanistan are on rising since last year. Tuesday attacks come a day after US Central Command chief Gen Kenneth McKenzie termed the Taliban violence "too high" in Afghanistan.
Gen McKenzie said the US was reviewing its options according to the US-Taliban deal signed in February 2020. Earlier, the Taliban, too, has warned of resuming attacks on western forces station in Afghanistan shall they decide to stay in the country any longer than May 2021.
