Amid rising cases of COVID-19 infections, Nepal’s government issued fresh guidelines for tourists, making negative PCR reports or COVID-19 certification mandatory for tourists.
The Council of Ministers in Nepal has approved the guidelines. Nepal-bound tourists will now have to submit a negative PCR test report taken within 72 hours or COVID-19 certification, according to a report in the Himalayan Times.
According to the newly issued guideline, following the arrival of the tourists in Nepal, they are expected to remain in self-paid hotel-quarantines until the receipt of confirmation of a negative PCR report taken in Nepal.
Also, Indian tourists entering Nepal have been asked to abide by the ‘Nepal-India Travel Bubble Agreement.’
The guidelines came days after the government alerted districts bordering India to remain on alert. District administrations have also been asked to ramp up isolation facilities in their zone amid fear of a second wave of infections.
India’s other neighbors also flagged concerns over rising cases in India. Sri Lanka, too, tightened its border measures as India reported over 100,000 cases in the last two days.
