Pakistan prime minister wishes Bangladesh on 50th anniversary

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan wrote a letter to his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina and extended wishes on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s independence, reported Dawn.
“On my own behalf, and on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan, I have great pleasure in extending our felicitations on the 50th anniversary of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh,” Khan wrote.
Bangladesh got its independence from Pakistan in 1971 through bloody armed resistance in which India had played a critical militaryh role.
In his letter to Hasina, Khan said, “Let us renew our resolve to jointly work for a better future for our peoples and even closer ties between our two countries.” He also extended an invitation to Hasina to visit Pakistan at her earliest convenience.
“Pakistan deeply values its fraternal ties with Bangladesh, which are based on shared history, common faith, and convergent of interests in promoting lasting peace and security as well as sustainable prosperity in our region and beyond,” he wrote.
Remembering Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he said he was reflective of the deep affection and esteem in which he is held by you and the people of Bangladesh.
Earlier this week, Hasina extended her wishes to Pakistan on its national day.
