बदलते भू-राजनीतिक परिदृश्य के अलावा, आर्थिक कारक भी इस नीति परिवर्तन के चीन-केंद्रित पहलू को और मजबूत करते हैं। चीन भारत का दूसरा सबसे बड़ा व्यापारिक साझेदार है, जहाँ वित्त वर्ष 2024–2025 में द्विपक्षीय व्यापार $127.7 बिलियन तक पहुँच गया, और यह आंकड़ा लगातार बढ़ रहा है। हालांकि, यह व्यापार वृद्धि एक बड़े असंतुलन के साथ जुड़ी हुई है, क्योंकि चीन के साथ भारत का व्यापार घाटा लगभग 17% बढ़कर $99.2 बिलियन हो गया है, जो इसी वित्त वर्ष में पहले $85.07 बिलियन था।

इस समय जो स्थिति उभरकर सामने आ रही है, वह एकल संकट नहीं बल्कि बहुस्तरीय संकट है, जो वैश्विक व्यवधानों, स्थानीय लागत दबावों और संरचनात्मक कमजोरियों से मिलकर बना है। मजदूर दिल्ली इसलिए नहीं छोड़ रहे हैं कि यहाँ काम बंद हो गया है, बल्कि इसलिए कि काम करते हुए राजधानी में टिकाऊ तरीके से जीवन जीना लगातार कठिन होता जा रहा है।
वैश्विक संगीत उद्योग, जहाँ लाखों गीत गाए जाते हैं और अरबों का लेन-देन होता है, एक अलग और व्यापक कहानी है। लेकिन एक गायिका जोड़ी के रूप में उनकी भूमिका भारत, और शायद पूरे दक्षिण एशिया में, आज भी प्रतिष्ठित बनी हुई है, जहाँ कई कलाकार आए, संगीत रचा और आगे बढ़ गए।
मुस्लिम समुदाय के भीतर, ऐसे विवाह अक्सर विस्तारित परिवारों के भीतर होते हैं क्योंकि चचेरे भाइयों के बीच विवाह सांस्कृतिक रूप से स्वीकार्य है। मां की ओर के मामा-मामी और चाचा-चाची तथा चचेरे भाई-बहन सीमा के पार रहने के कारण ऐसे रिश्ते तय करना अपेक्षाकृत आसान होता है। हालांकि पाकिस्तान में हिंदू आबादी के लगातार घटने—और उसके पीछे मौजूद उसकी धर्मतांत्रिक राज्य नीतियों—के कारण हिंदुओं के सीमा-पार विवाह बहुत कम पाये जाते हैं।
यूनएफसीसीसी प्रक्रिया की सबसे बड़ी विफलता इसका उत्तरदायित्वहीन ढांचा है। गुटेरेस ने कहा था—“यह समय बातचीत का नहीं, क्रियान्वयन का है।” लेकिन जब देश क्रियान्वयन ही न करें तो क्या हो? 79 देश अब तक अपनी 2025 की NDCs जमा नहीं कर पाए—वह भी समयसीमा बढ़ाए जाने के बावजूद। हैरानी की बात यह है कि इनमें भारत भी शामिल है—एकमात्र बड़ी अर्थव्यवस्था जिसने संशोधित NDCs जमा नहीं कीं और दक्षिण एशिया में (अफगानिस्तान को छोड़कर) एकमात्र देश जिसने ऐसा नहीं किया। ये NDCs नए सामूहिक मात्रा-निर्धारित लक्ष्य (NCQG) की प्रक्रिया के लिए अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण थीं।
